Download Kodu Game Lab and Create 3D Games on Windows PC
Microsoft Kodu Game Lab (Kodu) is a visual programming language especially designed for building games. It is created to be accessible and useful for anyone.
It works as a toolkit for making your own games and sharing them with your friends. The main bits are:
- A 3d scene editor for laying out your world.
- A new visual programming system that lets you create unique game behaviors interactively.
- A sharing system for swapping worlds over Xbox Live.
The built-in worlds help you get started and come in three types:
- Sample Games
- Tutorials
- Techniques
Sample Games: Sample Games are mini-games that you can play just for fun. All of them are fully editable, so after you’ve played one you can open it up, see how it works, and change it. Some of the sample games are unfinished to provide a start for your ideas.
Tutorials: Tutorials are games that are designed to teach you something about programming Kodu.
Techniques: Techniques are simple worlds that demonstrate useful behavior – like jumping when you touch a particular terrain type, or automatically chasing certain colors. Both techniques and tutorials are found under lessons.
